Module Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students should be able to understand:
- Differentiate between trigonometric, hyperbolic, exponential, and logarithmic functions.
- Apply the concepts of trigonometric, hyperbolic, exponential, and logarithmic functions to solve real-life engineering problems.
- Understand the concept of limits and analyze what these limits represent.
- Apply the necessary methods to mathematically calculate the limits of functions.
- Relate the concept of integration to the area problem and the fundamental theorem of calculus.
- Use the standard integration formulas and other integration methods such as integration by substitution, by parts, by partial fractions, by trigonometric substitution, or by numerical integration to solve integration problems.
- Understand basic geometric concepts such as area, volume, the length of a curve, and the centroids of objects in terms of integration.
- Understand basic physics concepts such as rectilinear motion, work, moments, center of gravity, fluid pressure, and fluid force in terms of integration.
- Understand the basic theory of sequences and series
- Assess the properties of infinite series
- Evaluate different infinite series, alternating series, and power series.
